He seeks to embody contradictions, the contrasts between external appearances and internal emotions, strength and fragility.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBenjamin Phillips grew up on the south shore of Nova Scotia, and graduated from Acadia University (BA Comparative Religion), the University of Victoria (BFA Honours) and Arizona State University (MFA Art). Phillips is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society (2025) and his awards include the 2024 Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Grant from the National Sculpture Society, an Arts Abroad Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts (2024, and two grants from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. Phillips has exhibited locally and internationally in Canada and the United States, most recently showing at Brookgreen Gardens, SC (2025), Indianapolis Art Center, IN (2024), Brookgreen Gardens, SC (2024), and Udinotti Museum of Figurative Art in Paradise Valley, Arizona (2022).
