Héritier Bilaka
Héritier Bilaka is a Canadian visual artist of Congolese origin. He holds a bachelor's degree in visual arts from the University of Ottawa (2023) and a graduate diploma in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa (2007). He has participated in numerous exhibitions and Art Fairs in Canada and abroad. He has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Congo Excellence Award in the Arts category, validated by the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, and the Award of Excellence: Future Makers from the University of Ottawa in 2025.
In 2024, He was recipient of the Laura Ciruls Painting Award from the Ontario Arts Foundation and two grants for visual arts research and creation programs from the Ottawa Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council in mid-career artist category. In 2023, he was recipient of the Seed Grant from the City of Ottawa's Arts Equity and Inclusion Fund, and in 2022, the visual arts research and creation grant in mid-career category from the Ontario Arts Council.
